One of the most frequently asked questions is about resetting your spectrum  WiFi router.
It may seem simple, but one of the easiest ways to fix a variety of technical problems is to simply restart the device. But I should step back and explain a little more. When you restart your computer, make sure you have saved everything you don't want to lose. If you have not yet integrated this into your general computer use, always save, save or close programs properly before resetting them!

When you restart your home router or modem, you may have to think about how to do it first.

Start anew? Restart? Reset to default?
The terminology can get a little tricky. People use the terms "restart", "restart" and "reset" interchangeably, but these terms can have very different meanings.
·         "Restart" and "Restart" mean the same thing: switch a device off and on again. Most computers have a "Restart" button somewhere, but if it says "Restart" instead, don't worry. It’s all the same.
·         The real problem can arise if you use the word "reset".
·         On your home router or modem, “Reset” is usually a hole button on the back that completely clears all settings and resets you to the first place. In general, this is not what you want to do. Resetting your modem and / or router should be a last resort.
·         By pressing the "Reset" button, you can remove the password from your WLAN, rename your network or even take it completely offline.

Instead, restart your WiFi router as follows:
·         Unplug your router or modem (don't just turn it off).
·         Wait 15 to 20 seconds and then plug it back in.
·         Wait a minute or two for the device to turn on again.
It may seem simple, but this can solve many connection problems without the inconvenience of resetting your modem or router.

Conclusion
There are, of course, some cases where you want to reset your router or modem and start again from the first place. In most cases, it is sufficient for most people to simply switch the device off and on again.
